In March of this year, our Asian Conference was held at the Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. This would be the first time I have visited Singapore, but definitely not my last.
I’m very lucky that part of my job is travel, I get to visit places I could only dream about, and Singapore would be on of them.
Whilst in Singapore we stayed in probably one of the most iconic hotels in the world, the Marina Bay Sands. It really was a privilege to stay here in this hotel, the service was exceptional, something I have never experienced before, and the sheer size and scale of this building was very overwhelming. But the most impressive part of the hotel has to be the rooftop pool.
Gardens by the Bay
My bedroom in the Marina Bay Sands overlooked the Gardens by the bay, a spectacular eco-friendly area within Singapore.
The Supertree Grove
There are 18 Supertrees in total in the Gardens by the Bay, of which 12 can be found in the Supertree Grove. Measuring between 25 and 50 metres tall, the tree-like vertical gardens are designed with large canopies that provide shade during the day and come alive at night with a display of light and sound. We visited the Supertree Grove twice, once in the evening for a meal in the tallest tree measuring up to 16 storeys high. The view, food and drinks where amazing.
On the second day, we returned during the day to visit the cloud forest and flower dome.
The Cloud Forest
The cloud forest is a 35-metre tall mountain covered in lush vegetation shrouding the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. The cloud forest is home to many different species of plant and wildlife. Also within the cloud forest, the world’s tallest indoor waterfall at 35 meters high you are transported to the top of the water and you descend through the mist-filled Cloud and Treetop Walk.
The Flower Dome
Across from the cloud forest is the flower dome, the largest glass greenhouse in the world as listed in the 2015 Guinness World Records! The Flower Dome showcases exotic plants from five continents which are displayed in nine different Gardens and as you are walking through the sights and smells of all these various plants is wonderful, a true piece of heaven.
Singapore would be one of the best places I have visited and I can not wait to return one day soon. If you are looking for somewhere to go, to experience a different culture and magnificent architecture, I would hand down recommend you visit here.
