Asian beauty products- my top 5 must tries
Like most of you, I scroll through Instagram and Facebook and my feed is loaded with promotional videos of crazy skincare that claim to calm your redness, remove dirt and claim to make you beautiful.
Asian beauty products have always been at the top of my “must try” beauty products. There is just something about them that makes them stand out from the rest of the beauty products on offer. When I visited Singapore in March, I couldn’t resist a shopping spree in one of the many beauty stores on offer, since then my obsession with Asian beauty products has grown and I am here to share with you my top ten “must try” Asian beauty products from UK retailers.
My top five
Kocostar hair mask. ASOS £8
I have tried many hair masks in the past and I love what they can do. Making my hair silky smooth and vanishing any strays and the look of split ends. What I don’t like about many of the hair masks is the mess that comes with them, having to sit still with something wet in your hair for 20 minutes is not an easy task.
The Kocostar caught my eye for one main reason- it is a sheet mask!
The aim of the mask if to nourish dry and damaged hair, leaving it soft and silky. By using the cap provided you can apply it to freshly washed, towel-dried hair, massage it in and leave it to absorb for 20 minutes.
Fairydrops, Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara. Cult Beauty £18.50
Who doesn’t love a good mascara? Especially one that actually lifts your lashes and adds volume. I have tried a number of Asian mascaras and they have always worked well.
The shape of the bobble wand means every lash is caught and coated. The water-resistant formula is enriched with five different treatment essences – squalene, jojoba seed oil, panthenol, hydrolysed collagen and moisturising hyaluronic acid – to counteract brittleness and leave lashes looking lustrous. And the innovative film-forming polymers have a long-lasting ‘perming’ effect, to ‘open up’ eyes.
I love taking the time to treat myself to a nice face mask, especially a sheet masks for when I am relaxing in the bath as you can put your head back, apply that mask and sit with it on your face for as long as you need. Another positive about sheet masks is the amount of “mask” you have with them.
I have used many products from the OH K! range, including the 3 step charcoal mask which works wonders to give your face a good deep clean. This OH K! mask aims to cleanse the skins while adding moisture.
For a long time, I have craved baby smooth feet, especially when I go abroad and get to wear my lovely sandals and show off my new pedicure. I am so eager to try this foot mask, purely because I am intrigued if it would actually work.
This mask is designed to remove dead skin cells and then you can rinse off the residue after 1 hour. A perfect mask to wear while watching your favourite TV show.
My final item on the list is the
BIOAQUA HYDRATING LIP MASK. Beauty Mart £3.50
I have tried this product before, and I love it! The comical look is priceless when you are wearing this mask, but the end results are great! Your lips are left smooth and plump. With the collagen and hyaluronic acid, rich gel mask it will flood the lips with moisture, temporarily filling fine lines and leaving lips looking full and healthy.
Asian beauty is becoming increasingly popular. You can walk into most high street shops now and find at least one item from the Asian beauty market. The only problem is the price, due to import tax these products can be very expensive, especially when you know you can purchase them in any beauty shop in Asia for no more than £3.
On my next trip to Thailand in March, I will be sure to pack my case full of these little gems.
Until next time
